The EU is demanding emission reductions and more and more companies are coming up with related strategies. Although there are subsidies financed by the Ministry of Transport and Next Generation funds, the reality is that they are received long after the investments have been made and \u2018being sustainable is more expensive\u2019. However, there is a way to recover from 30% to the totality of the investment in less than three months and it is complementary to the application for any other subsidy. This is the Energy Saving Certificate (CAE). However, despite the fact that they have been in force in Spain for more than a year, few companies are taking advantage of them.<\/p>\n

\u2018They are a direct incentive to apply sustainable policies and energy efficiency measures, something that is increasingly essential in the logistics environment,\u2019 explains the director of the Spanish Logistics Centre (CEL), Ram\u00f3n Garc\u00eda. In many cases, he adds, \u2018we are talking about projects whose investment can be recovered almost 100% thanks to the savings obtained and, in fact, in certain actions, the CAE itself already offers the return on investment (ROI)\u2019.<\/p>\n

In this regard, the CEO of Next Mobility, Javier Goikoetxea, points out that, despite being a regulated instrument and fully in force in Spain, \u2018its application to the transport and automotive sector is relatively recent and many companies are still unaware that their fleet could be generating income from its energy efficiency if they had the appropriate measurement and certification systems\u2019. In this regard, he points out that, for this reason, \u2018it is so important to make it known and facilitate access to this tool as we are gradually seeing a growing interest, especially in logistics, leasing, distribution and transport companies\u2019.<\/p>\n

In any case, the head of Shift EV for Spain, Javier Aparicio, assures that the Energy Saving Certificates are still little known among many companies. In fact, the CEL acknowledges that it is common that even companies that have already heard of this figure \u2018do not know how or when they can benefit from it\u2019. In this context, it should be noted that all projects implemented since January 2023 are eligible to take advantage of EPCs, at least until 2030.<\/p>\n
