En 1993, el GPS dio un paso clave hacia su uso civil y marc\u00f3 un antes y un despu\u00e9s en la log\u00edstica.\nHasta principios de los a\u00f1os 90, la planificaci\u00f3n log\u00edstica depend\u00eda en gran medida de la experiencia humana: mapas de papel, conocimiento del territorio y horarios r\u00edgidos. Las desviaciones, los atascos o los imprevistos se gestionaban de forma reactiva y, en muchos casos, sin informaci\u00f3n en tiempo real. Todo empez\u00f3 a cambiar cuando el sistema GPS alcanz\u00f3 en 1993 un nivel de disponibilidad y estabilidad que permiti\u00f3 su uso civil de forma generalizada.\n\nAunque el GPS hab\u00eda sido desarrollado por el Departamento de Defensa de Estados Unidos d\u00e9cadas antes, su apertura progresiva al uso civil marc\u00f3 un punto de inflexi\u00f3n para sectores intensivos en movilidad, como la log\u00edstica y el transporte. Por primera vez, las empresas pudieron conocer la posici\u00f3n exacta de sus veh\u00edculos en tiempo real, algo que hoy parece trivial, pero que entonces supuso un salto tecnol\u00f3gico
