Ferag to install its Skyfall bag sorter in Digitec Galaxus warehouse in Switzerland
Madrid, 15th of February 2023.- Ferag, a leading developer of intralogistics solutions, has been awarded a contract to implement its innovative skyfall bag sorter at the Digitec Galaxus operations centre in Wohlen (Switzerland).
Digitec Galaxus, the leading Swiss online retailer, stocks an innumerable reference list of around seven million products. The Wohlen operations centre is being equipped with Ferag’s unique skyfall bag sorter, which represents an important step for the company to ensure higher pick volumes in the near future.
Ferag’s first contact with the Digitec Galaxus project team took place at the LogiMAT 2022 trade fair, marking the start of a new partnership between the Swiss online retailer and the intralogistics specialist. “Super Booster”, as the project was called in reference to the considerable performance increase it represents for Digitec Galaxus, was developed over a period of one and a half years in close collaboration. The end-to-end solution includes transport, storage, sorting and picking, functions that Digitec Galaxus will be able to perform with maximum performance in the future thanks to the new solution. At least 1.3 million packages will leave the warehouse every month from 2025 onwards.
Ferag’s experience and Digitec Galaxus’ clear specifications formed the basis for this pioneering project. The integration of the skyfall bag sorter into Wohlen’s existing complex material flow systems represented a major challenge, which both parties overcame thanks to their extensive experience.
Tommaso Ramundo, CEO of Ferag, commented: “Right at the beginning of the year, two traditional companies are sending an important signal for the Swiss economic outlook. The launch of the skyfall bag sorter is a milestone for both companies and underlines the efficiency and performance of the Digitec Galaxus logistics solution”.
