Transforming logistics for the retail of the future
10.00h - 11.15h
Theater Name
Logistics is undergoing rapid change in the world of retail. Consumer demand for more online shopping and services has changed our traditional way of thinking.
The design of IKEA’s new logistics network starts with the analysis of customer needs, expectations and market conditions.
Becoming more accessible means offering new touch points, especially urban formats and transforming our shop network into logistics hubs by reducing supply chain operating costs and creating greater customer satisfaction by reducing delivery times.
The development and transformation of our business model is one of the success factors in a multi-channel environment.

The impact of 5G and the opening up of opportunities for the logistics sector
11.25h - 12.10h
Theater Name
5G will act as a transformative lever for the economy, society and the environment in Spain, thanks to this new technology’s ability to enable innovation in virtually all sectors. But the mere deployment of infrastructures alone is not enough to trigger a technological revolution. It is also necessary to develop a complete ecosystem, with the involvement of all industry players, to enable the implementation of valuable use cases. We will review some of them that have already been tested and others that are being worked on in the field of logistics, analysing the new opportunities they offer.

In the second block, we will ground the initial concepts and review the current situation of the funds, reviewing which calls have already been published and their main characteristics and trends that can be seen in order to finally project what awaits us at the end of 2021 and the beginning of 2022.

Why is shipping facing the perfect storm?
13.15h- 14.00h
Theater Name
The logistics sector is facing a set of challenges: on the one hand, environmental regulations are becoming more and more demanding, while on the other hand, the global transport volume is increasing. This volume of goods must be transported as sustainably and efficiently as possible. In view of its social responsibility for climate protection Mercedes-Benz Trucks has defined a roadmap that answers three questions: Why is this change necessary? How can we do it? and What are we doing? in order to achieve the goal of CO2-free freight transport.

What is happening to the electricity bill?
10.30h - 11.15h
Theater Name
This year, 2021, has been prodigal in terms of regulatory changes in the electricity system and continuous increases in the cost of energy. The result is an electricity bill that is practically unrecognisable when compared with previous years or even with the first few months of 2021.
Since 1 April, new methodologies for calculating tolls and costs have been applied that introduce prices with strong discrimination by periods in both the fixed and variable terms of the bill.
The escalation in natural gas and CO2 emission rights prices has led to an unprecedented rise in the cost of energy and, consequently, in the variable term of the bill.
The successive measures taken by the government, reducing tax rates (VAT, generation tax, electricity tax) and reducing charges have not managed to halt the rise in electricity bills, and the government’s commitment that the electricity bill in 2021 will not exceed that of 2018 is in danger.

Supply Chain Tactics
Tactics are eating into strategy
12.20h - 13.05h
Theater Name
Most companies are faced with strategic decisions to which they devote time and resources. Not for nothing are these decisions of great impact. And yet it is a reality, especially in the current times we are living in, to find a gap between an organisation’s strategy and its business operating model. And it is in Tactics that the difference lies. While Strategy captures the vision of the organisation, Tactics captures the set of free decisions, within that strategy, that the Business Model operates, and is ultimately a reflection of how the company creates value for its stakeholders, a reflection of its responsiveness and its financial performance. Nowadays, “WHERE do we want to go” is losing prominence to “and HOW are we going to do it?

Being pioneers and not dying in the attempt
13.15h - 14.00h
Theater Name
Is it possible to commit to improving the environment and avoid the risks of being a first-timer, and does the famous phrase “Let others invent” still apply? Pablo Gómez, in his capacity as Managing Director of FM Logistic in Iberia and President of Logistop, believes that the demands of the multifactorial crisis in which we are immersed, with its peaks and valleys, with its decompensations and mitigations for some time now is only a wake-up call about what the future holds and therefore the responsible attitude of companies is to take the leadership that other institutions in our environment are not capable of assuming. The chronic lack of capacity to reach agreements in our culture and society, the involvement in the battle for power and the imperious need for short-term results are mortgaging us. Pablo Gómez will present his vision of collaborative innovation methodology and the results he is achieving in these dizzying years, through projects that have recently been implemented in his own company. Among the projects, the incorporation of hydrogen as an energy vector in its logistics operations or distribution with electric vehicles in the heart of the city. It will also present collaborative ideas for those who wish to align themselves with this constructive vision of the future.

Will productivity and growth return after the COVID-19 crisis?
16.30h - 17.20h
Theater Name
The pandemic has had huge health and economic costs from which we have not yet recovered. However, despite the pressure and high levels of uncertainty, many businesses have implemented innovative strategies, such as the adoption of digital channels, to respond to COVID-19. Such changes offer the opportunity for productivity growth – and thus people’s living standards in the medium to long term – to accelerate. Capturing this opportunity requires that the changes are consolidated and spread across much of the productive fabric, in particular SMEs; and that demand is robust, driven by growth in investment, employment and wages. Human capital, investment in technology and innovation, and business size are three fronts on which companies and policy makers must act.
