CONSERVAS LA BRÚJULA Y RAMÓN PEÑA. CASE OF SUCCESS
The recognized high quality canning brands La Brújula and Ramón Peña, belonging to Grupo Delgado, relied on AS Software, to undertake a project to improve logistics management, taking advantage of the construction of its new factory and automated warehouse in Ribadumia, Pontevedra.
The logistics management of the new facilities is completely automated thanks to the project carried out by AS Software with its advanced warehouse management solution AS-SGA.
The SGA is in charge of managing and optimizing all the movements of merchandise of the canneries, from the reception of purchases of the raw material, to the dispatch of customer orders. All logistic movements are managed in real time, sometimes through wireless terminals with barcode reader, for the reception of raw material, and other dialogues with various electromechanical logistic devices: maintenance system for input of finished product to automatic warehouse, automated warehouse silo with stacker crane, label applicator arm and vertical carrousel of cases. The application is also prepared to identify the merchandise through barcodes or RFID tags, under the EPC Gen2 standard in UHF, including the product information, its manufacturing lot and its preferred consumption date.
The initial maintenance system is activated from the SGA, through the registration of finished product pallets, or other auxiliary or semi-finished materials that are desired to be stored in the silo, reading with a wireless terminal the labels of the pallet to be located.
The maintenance system, dialoguing through its PLCs with the SGA, verifies the weight of the pallet and its clearance and if it is correct, the pallet is balled and uploaded to the upper floor, also unattended, where the transelevator arm places the pallet automatically in the best location proposed by the SGA, according to rotation criteria ABC and others.
The SGA of AS Software manages the preparation of orders for both Grupo Delgado and its new eCommerce, as well as for other distribution companies. The system in this point contemplates diverse positions of picking for the articles of greater rotation, fed of automatic form from the silo of pallets and managed by the SGA, by means of a transfer element that relocates the pallets in picking to convenience, always by means of a dialogue SGA -PLCs through a specialized middleware, performed by AS Software.
