ctrlX AUTOMATION

Before developing ctrlX AUTOMATION, Bosch Rexroth wondered what automation would look like if it were reinvented by Google, Apple, or some other digital company.
Today, mechanical engineering means one thing: software development. In some machines, software accounts for more than 50 percent of value creation. Software determines the flexibility, connectivity, availability, and ease of operation of machines and systems.
Automation technology must be integrated into IT with the least possible effort. ctrlX AUTOMATION is based on a completely new, open software architecture with app technology. The rebound effect caused by the use of this platform: engineering resources for new machines are reduced by 30 to 50 percent.
This platform includes a complete renewal of the Bosch automation component portfolio (controller, inputs/outputs, safety functions, drives, HMI, PC). The platform's hardware core, the CtrlX Core, is based on a high-performance multi-core processor (8 cores/64-bit) and can be installed in a controller, industrial PC, or drive, allowing users to choose to build their own. A new generation of multi-core processors that provides sufficient computing power for all automation tasks, from PLC and Motion applications to CNC and robotics.
