Adif invests more than 82 million in renewing communications infrastructure
Adif will invest more than 82 million euros in renovation work on its communications infrastructure in the east, northeast, northwest and south. This will make the fibre optic network of conventional lines more reliable and robust and deploy a new fibre trunk cable for the implementation of the multiservice IP network, adapted to the needs of the service.
These actions are part of Adif’s Telecommunications Improvement Plan and aim to meet the demand for railway operation services.
The actions to be undertaken include the adaptation of the fibre for the transport of all services and the renewal of the cabling or the deployment of fibre in those sections where it is necessary.
In the east, these works will be carried out by the company Emurtel, with a contract value of 17.2 million euros and a completion period of 23 months.
In the Northeast, the contract for the execution of the works has been awarded to Sistemas y Montajes Industriales for 27.2 million euros and a completion period of 22 months.
The contract for the renovation of the communications infrastructure in the Northwest area has been awarded to the joint venture comprising Teléfonos Líneas y Centrales and Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios, for 16.9 million euros and a period of 23 months.
Finally, in the Southern area, the works will be carried out by the joint venture comprising Comsa Instalaciones y Sistemas Industriales and Emurtel for 20.8 million euro and a completion period of 23 months.
Adif and Adif AV have a fibre optic network of more than 24,000 km, with a high level of capillarity throughout Spain and interconnected with France and Portugal. This fibre optic network supports railway operation services and also enables the development and implementation of the latest technologies related to railway management, such as the ERTMS signalling system or the GMS-R mobile communications model.
