Nestlé uses HVO biofuels and reduces emissions in its coffee supply chain
Nestlé Spain reduces emissions by 1,400 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year through the lorries that transport coffee from the port of Barcelona to the “Nescafé” instant coffee and “Nescafé Dolce Gusto” capsule factory in Girona, and to the company’s roasted coffee factory in Reus (Tarragona). In this way, the company is making progress towards sustainable food with the aim of achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

The decarbonisation of our logistics is a clear example of how innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand to significantly reduce our carbon footprint. Our determination and close collaboration with our suppliers is key to developing these types of more efficient and sustainable solutions on our key routes. All of this is part of our comprehensive strategy to ensure a positive impact on communities and the planet,” said Jordi Aycart, Director of Supply Chain and Sustainability at Nestlé Spain.
