The digital transport control document is now mandatory: here’s how Tookane handles it

Since 5 October 2026, the control document for public road freight transport in Spain must be digital. It is required by Law 9/2025 on Sustainable Mobility for domestic transport and cabotage, and there is no transition period: penalties apply from day one.

One of the most confusing points is that responsibility is shared, so it affects both the carrier and the shipper. A separate document is also needed for each leg of the journey: if the vehicle or driver changes, or the goods go through a hub, a new one must be issued.

Tookane now includes a dedicated feature for the digital control document. You can generate it from the platform, from a web form or via API, and send it to the driver by SMS, WhatsApp or email. Each document is recorded with its own public URL, ready to show during an inspection. And if you don’t use Tookane yet, you can use it without signing up for the full platform.
