Deferment of social security contributions extended

The new package of anti-crisis measures approved by the Government allows the extension of the deferral of social contributions, as well as the increase of the indexation of the fuel concept in the formation of the tariffs in transport contracts.

The new Decree-Law 20/2022 on anti-crisis measures, published on Wednesday 28 December in the Official State Gazette, as a continuation of those approved last March and July in response to the economic consequences of the war in Ukraine, includes several economic and administrative measures of interest to transport companies.

According to Fenadismer, in addition to the new 20 cents per litre rebate on fuel for the road transport sector and other professional sectors, the new Decree-Law extends another economic measure applicable to the sector until 30 June, such as the updating of the fuel variation index in the clause for the revision of transport tariffs in ongoing contracts, which was approved last July as a result of the rise in fuel prices experienced last year.

Thus, until that date, 40% of the percentage increase in diesel fuel prices will continue to apply for larger trucks (over 20 tonnes MMA), 30% for medium-sized trucks (between 3.5 and 20 tonnes) as well as for construction trucks and 20% for trucks of up to 3.5 tonnes.

On the other hand, the Decree-Law no longer includes another of the measures approved for the road haulage sector last July, which in practice had hardly been used and had even caused a great deal of confusion. This is the measure relating to the obligation to include the cost of fuel separately in contracts made by hauliers for daily or occasional journeys.
