I-STOP is a wireless safety system for loading docks that helps prevent improper truck movement during loading and unloading operations. It is not a conventional wheel chock. The system communicates the truck wheel's status with the inside and outside of the dock, coordinating the wheel chock, traffic lights, electric door, and safety alerts. When the driver correctly places the wheel chock on the wheel, the system turns the internal traffic light green to indicate to the forklift operator that they can begin the operation, while the external traffic light turns red to warn the truck driver not to move the vehicle. At the same time, the dock door is enabled to open. One of its main safety functions is the detection of improper removal of the wheel chock. If it is removed before the operation is complete, the internal traffic light turns red and a visual and audible alert is activated via a beacon, immediately warning of a potentially dangerous situation. Upon successful completion of the work, the operator confirms the operation's closure from the control unit. The inner traffic light turns red and the outer light turns green, indicating to the driver that they can proceed. The system includes a wireless wheel chock, two LED traffic lights, a beacon, and a control unit with wireless communication. I-STOP helps reduce risks arising from coordination errors between drivers and operators by providing real-time visual and audible feedback and establishing a safer work sequence at the loading dock.
